Robyn began in the Jackson lab as a Masters candidate in 1998 and reclassified into the doctoral program in 2000. In her dissertation, she examined some of the statistical questions that arise when trying to detect anthropogenic disturbances at the ecosystem level. Publications assessing the scale of nutrient limitation in lakes and rivers that came out of her work were Irvine RL, EE Crone, LJ Jackson & EA MacIsaac (2004) The importance of scale in ecological model predictions: assessing the consistency of fertilization responses in lakes. Ecological Applications 14: 1178-1188 and Irvine RL & LJ Jackson (2006) Spatial variance of nutrient limitation of periphyton in montane, headwater streams (McLeod River, Alberta, Canada). Aquatic Ecology, 40: 337-248.
After receiving her Ph.D. in 2004, Robyn was hired to work for Golder Associates Ltd. in Castlegar, BC as a statistical ecologist.
Robyn is now co-owner of Poisson Consulting in Nelson, British Columbia, and continues to work on fish population biology and statistical ecological projects.
